Saltwater mixes will tell you 1/2 cup of salt to 1 gallon of water (this is actually on the weak side, though). The best way is to use a hydrometer to measure the specific gravity, which should be between 1.024 and 1.026. Use a regular sea salt mix for the best mineral content and use a dechlorinator for the water!

If this is a "land" hermit rather than an aquatic, you can mix 1 tsp. salt to 1 cup of water.

It needs to be in at least a ten gallon aquarium with a filter and heater. The salinity needs to be between 1.108 and 1.024. I suggest purchasing a book ("The Simple Guide to Marine Aquariums" is really good) before trying to keep any marine life at home.
