i guess i'm OCD about books. if i start it, i gotta finish it, no matter how boring. i'm currently reading 9 short stories by JD Salinger and find his story endings most unsatisfactory.

Do you read the latest bestseller? Not until it comes out in paperback Do you tend towards a specific genre? Horror/SciFi/Fantasy/Action Do you stick within a series? Yeah, if I start it, I like to finish it (if it's good, anyway) and I usually won't start a series unless I can get the first one first Do you read the classics? Only when required Do you read short stories? Not generally Poetry? Don't really care for it (unless it's EAP) but I write some occasionally What kinds of books do you avoid? ROMANCE!!!!! Do you ever go to the library? Almost never Do you like to read books online? I read a lot online, but not usually books, per se Do you read books that are too easy for you? Sometimes Do you look to be challenged when you read? sometimes Entertained? always Would you prefer to read inside or outside, and during what kind of weather? inside, during a storm - I'm easily distracted if there is lot's of ambient noise, but storms are perfect reading weather In short, what do you like/dislike to read, and what motivates you to make reading decisions? I mostly read Stephen King, and Harry Potter books. I've tried branching out, but they're never good enough. King and Rowling have styles that make reading more interesting for me, and most other authors just end up pissing me off with their overindulgent prose

I hated the Hobbit, I read the whole book but I cant for the life of me tell u what happened.
I also hate those books that win loads of awards and then I read because its supposed to be good and finish it and think what was all the fuss about. It makes me feel very stupid.

I majored in English literature and had to read a number of the classics ("Books which everybody praises and nobody reads." ~ Mark Twain). 'The Return of the Native' by Thomas Hardy, 'Silas Marner' by George Eliot and 'The Mill on the Floss' by George Eliot were really hard slogging. I would never have read them by choice.

(I thought the Hobbit was good)
but I read The Catcher in the Rye because it's a "classic" and that book was the biggest bunch of horseshit. I was pissed.

HA. I've always found the more someone raved on about something , the more i was prepared to be cynical and hate it. Generally i found i was right. And if by some twist of the universe i was wrong, I wouldn't admit it. Therefore, i am always right.

no i refuse point blank to read such bunkum - most classics are classic to folk who were born during WW11 when playing eye spy was considered daring.

Modern books jump off the page and grab you by the throat...
