I'm shy, I know that's part of the problem, but unless I'm camping/hiking I really don't like to be outside. I hate natural light unless I'm out in the wilderness. I rarely leave my room because of this. There's nothing nature-like around for me to do so I sit at my computer all day, not really interested in meeting other people.

Your an intervert. There is nothing wrong with that. i like being in the house myself. Besides being pasty looking, i dont think there is anything wrong with you.

make an effort to find the nature around you. The sky, the stars... Find a bird watching club or hiking club. Or move to a rural area where you will like it better. Try to get out a couple times a week and on the weekends to experience the sights and sounds of your area. Volunteer at something. Don't be a shut in because the more you do that the harder it will be to break that habit.

Wrong?

Well...you admit you are shy, which isn't wrong...but maybe there are underlying reasons for your shyness and dislike of natural light...Perhaps you are just making excuses for not getting out of the house and meeting people.

You sound like you are a little depressed to me, and perhaps have a fear of meeting people and the outside world...I oculd be wrong though, as I don't know you.

I can't imagine there is no outdoors for you to enjoy...even NYC has central park...maybe you can look into a hiking club? Learning to open up and trust people is hard, but rewarding. You can learn a lot about yourself and the world by opening up yourself and your mind...just a little advice...you can throw it out if you want.

Did you just desribe me?! Lol, there is nothing wrong with you. I spend hours a day on the computer, I am shy and have a handful of friends and if I go a day without talking to them it doesn't bother me. I don't give a crap about meeting people either, it's just how me and you are. Some people need attention, some don't. Everyone is different, and you don't have to follow the crowd.

I dont think there is anything wrong with you at all. Some people are just introverted and prefer to be alone. Im not an outdoorsy person either, sunlight bothers my eyes (probably because I dont go outside much). But Im happy, i have a wonderful husband, a great job and a beautiful daughter. Good luck to you!

if you dislike the city, why dont you move to a country or rural setting this way you can enjoy the outdoors and feel more comfortable with yourself.get away from the computer, thats what is probably holding you back.

you might have a condition known as agoraphobia, the fear of leaving your home, but i doubt that since you do enjoy hiking.

there is nothing wrong with you,you are just in the wrong setting.

This is a miserable month where I live. Very cold, snow, b-r-r-r-r-r. However, make an effort to get out where people are. Even going to a movie with a couple of friends would help. When you are naturally shy, you have to make an extra effort. good luck

I think you have a mind set that is only working on what you like, rather than what you need to do, While the first is more comfortable for you will it pay the bills for you, you need to be in the world to do this
