Think about it. Do you lock the door when you leave? What about while your at home? If your taking a walk, and you see someone in a beat up car drive by, are you scared at first? What about these school shootings? Are you ever afraid to send your kid to school, or to go to school yourself? Think about it. Do you REALLY feel safe here in America?

Okay, so here's a point. Now trying to put anyone in the spotlight, and I'm sorry if I offend you, but SO MANY PEOPLE just have guns to 'protect' themselves. However, school shootings, the kids get the gun from Dads, neighboors, friends who just 'have it for protection' And did you know that there is a higher chance of that gun that you 'have the right to carry' will shoot someone you know, not a strange indruder?

I live in a community that has a very, very low crime rate, particularly for violent crime, so, I have to say I do feel pretty safe. BUT, I still always lock the doors at my home and when I'm driving in my car, even in the community where I live. I watched a television show months ago where it included a piece that shows how Canadians do not lock the doors to their homes, even when they're not a home! I was blown away! No way would I EVER leave the doors to my home unlocked! I know there are small communities in the US where they don't lock their doors, but I can't begin to imagine what that would be like.

Most of the people in the community where I live drive expensive cars, but, I have to admit, I am more wary of someone driving a beat up car, which is kind of silly when you think about it. The biggest pervert in the world could be the person driving the expensive car!

The schools in the area I live in are some of the best in the state, so I don't worry about sending my child to school. I would worry if I lived in an urban area though. There's just more crime and violence there.

Even when I drive into urban areas, I don't freak out, feeling like I'm going to be shot in the head any second. I'm just more aware of my surroundings, where I park, putting my wallet in my purse before I leave a store, that type of thing.

Overall, I think living in America is pretty safe. You just have to try to live in areas with lower crime rates, if you can afford to.

yup
there are areas I am aware of my surroundings, but i have a gun and there are police

we are not under attack by other nations, either

EDIT: why not identify yourself as anti-gun to begin with? why play a charade with a different Q to start it off? do you think THAT will change people's minds? i have a loaded gun in my house and no one will shoot it but me.
there is ZERO chance of the silly scenario you portray. NO ONE will get shot with it, ever. If an intruder breaks in, I'll beat him to death with my ball bat that has nails sticking out of it.
