Multiply 5 with everything between the parenthesis. Do the same with the -2. You'll get:
15x-10 -2x + 12 = 10

After simplyfying:
15x-2x = 10+ 10 - 12

13x = 8

x= 8/13

5(3x-2)-2(x-6)=10
15x - 10 - 2x + 12 = 10
13x + 2 = 10
13x = 8
x = 8/13

BEDMAS = Brackets, Exponent, Division and Multiplication, Addition and SUbtraction.. this is called the order of operations.. this is the order in which you must perform the actions of math!

so.. Brackets.. you have two of them...
multiply the outer number into the brackets:
(5*3x)-(5*2)-(2*x)-(2*-6) = 15x-10-2x+12 = 10

you don't have any exponents, there isn't any more multiplication or division, so you collect like terms (that means anything with the same variable attatched to it, or no variable at all)
here goes:
15x-2x = 13x
-10+12 = 2
you now have:
13x+2 = 10

subtract 2 from each side to get the "like" terms (ie. the two numbers with no variable attatched to them) together..
another way to look at it is: you have a 2 on the side with the variable and you don't want it there, variables like to be ALONE, that is called isolation.. so to remove the 2, you must do the opposite action of what it is involoved in now.. it is being added, so you must subtract it.. (addition and subtraction are opposites).. but if you EVER do something to one side, you MUST do it to the other.. you subtract 2 from the left, you must also subtract it from the right... its like siblings, if you give one a chocolate bar, you must give the other a chocolate bar, or else they cry.. we don't want any numbers crying!!!! :)
13x = 10-2
13x=8
you have to get the x alone...
that means......................... divide by 13.. that is the opposite of what is going on now.. you have 13 MULTIPLIED by x.. so, do the opposite, that is divide... (remember what you do to one side you must do to the other.)

13x/13 = 8/13
simplify
x=8/13

Hope that helps.

Clear out parenthesis as follows:

15x - 10 - 2X + 12 = 10

collect all numbers on left side...
and all X's on left side (means combine like things)

15X - 2X -10 + 12 = 10
13X + 2 = 10

Subtract 2 from both sides of equation...

13X = 8

Divide both sides by 13...

X = 8 / 13

expand
15x -10 - 2x +12 = 10....combine
13x + 2 = 10
13x = 8
x = 8/13

Distribute:
15x-10-2x+12=10
Then add like terms:
13x+2=10
Get X on one side:
13x=8:
Divide both sides by 13:
x = 8/13
