Since the president is sworn to protect and serve the people who elected him, he should protect the citizen from certain death not the other way round.

And what do you think President Bush is doing? He is making our country secure. I don't know about you but right after 9/11 I would not have gone on a plane if you paid me. Now, I do feel more secure - security is tighter - progress is being made in Iraq - it is no matter what you think! So yes the president's job is to protect the citizens - the military's job is to protect the citizens . So are they all doing their jobs - 110%!

I think President Bush would try to save a citizen from certain death, if he had the opportunity. If you are speaking of war, the military is employed to fight the battles of the US, and to keep us safe. If you are speaking of importance, the President holds our highest office and must be kept safe.

I spent over 20 years willing to give my life for my COUNTRY AND my Commander in Chief. Even though I retired in '85, I would still do all I could to protect ANY of my Presidents, past, present or future!

The President has people paid to protect him, the Secret Service. If some marauder comes out of nowhere, THEY have to protect him. I have a family and so I am not going to risk life and limb for some guy who doesn't represent the common everyday American People anyway.

Well, we have 300,000,000 citizens and only 1 President. Thus said, I would gladly protect him.

As the commander-in-chief, the answer is seemingly obvious, if not vague at the same time.
