I'm out of work again and I seem to get a fair amount of interviews for jobs with salaries that if I took them, I couldnt take care of myself financially. I absolutely need a job, but I also need a reasonable salary. My question is, if I'm offered a job with a salary that is below what I need to live on with just the basics, should I take the position because I need to work, or pass on it for a job that has an increased salary?

If you are receiving unemployment while lookinf for work, I would continue the job search until you find something that you think will work out as far as salary and longevity. If you accept whatever comes along, you may find yourself unemployed or unhappy again in the near future. Good luck!

Maybe if you put in your cover letter the salary range you can live with this may eliminate some interviews for positions that pay less. Rethink what wage you need to live on and be as honest as possible.

When I was out of work, I took a job that had the potential for growth while I was underpaid. I suggest that you go to a company that you can prove your worth and get a higher paycheck in 6 months.

I would accept the position, then do as I do and take a part time (I have 2 plus my full time) to supplement. Pick a p/t that's either fun or comes with perks.! Hope this helps. L

It sounds like you are living above your means but I'd take the cheap-paying job and continue to look for a better one in the meantime.

I agree, totally downsize your spending habits.

It is a question of need vs. want.

and yes, take the position that pays less, it will all work out, and
you will have a job!

good luck

I think you need to rethink how much you need to live on.
