Are the AKAs popular? How often do they look for new members?

interested women do not 'join' sororities - they are invited for membership and it is your choice to accept.

if you are interested in AKA, they are not going to be interested in you because you think "theyre popular" and "because theyre looking for new members." i can speak for all of NPHC when i say "what makes you different from the rest? what do you bring to the table?"

lastly, if you are given the opportunity to become a member, realize you are a member of the organization FIRST, then your CHAPTER second. so it really doesnt matter how they are at NCAT - if you are down for the org, youre down. simple.

hope this helps.

As an alumnus of North Carolina A&T, I can attest choosing to join Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority would be a good decision. Any organization at North Carolina A & T could develop you for any career and socially while in college.

The greeks (Delta Sigma Theta, Alpha Phi Alpha, Omega Psi Phi, Zeta Phi Beta, Phi Beta Sigma, Iota Phi Theta, Sigma Gamma Rho, Kappa Alpha Psi and Alpha Kappa Alpha) are known as the Divine 9. All were active when I attended A & T. Like on many college campuses, the Deltas and AKA were possibly first choice of many female students. However, not everybody can be or will be. I love/like the girls that I have grown to know in most of the sororities on campus.

Should you choose to go to A & T or any other school, remember to always hold a likeable character. Your years in college will run a lot smoother. Have fun. Pledging would be cool but it wouldn't be cool if you just joined the organization for the name. Get to know the girls, the organization, YOUR SCHOOL, and your academics. I'm sure you will be okay after those instructions.

I must agree with other posters. You should choose an organization based on who does the organization operate and could you see yourself being apatr of that org. Imagine if you were to get in to any one of the D9 (Divine 9) sororities, you will not belong to that undergraduate chapter forever, you will move on to a graduate chapter. If you want to be in the organization, but you dislike that chapter at a given school I think you should wait until grad chapter. The D9 organizations have continued to survive for as long as they have, not beacuse of thier popularity, but because people have the desire to perputuate the goals and aims of the org.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated will be celebrating 100 years of Service to ALL MANKIND on January 15, 2008! I hope that the legacy is more inportant than the popularity of members at you school. Good Luck in school.

After what my Soror has stated, not much needs to be said. Well put Soror. Thumbs up.

I am loving the latter part of your source. ;)
