If you are under 18, you cannot stay away from your home without parent(s)' permission if they request that you return home. It's what is known as a status offense. That means an offense that would not be a criminal offense if it were to be committed by an adult.

You can be put on probation or into detention for being a runaway.

EMANCIPATION is the word you are looking for. You can become emancipated by showing a court that you are responsible enough to take care of yourself. This means having at least a part time job and some place to live. The place to live can be a studio apartment with bunk beds that you share with a friend. You have to pay your share of rent. You can quit school if you have to in order to have a job and if you are 16 or older but its better if you dont. If you are under 16 and your home life is bad enough you can call social services. Best to call someone not in your home town. You may want to keep a journal and tape or comuter audio recordings of events in your home to show to a judge. This can get you into a foster home but beware as these can be as bad or worse than what you have now. Search the net for "emancipation" and "minor" and NOT "proclimation" (spelling?) Tell your parents you want to get a part time job to help out. Once you have had the job for a while you can show that you are responsible. You don't have to actually have an apartment at the time, just show that you can provide for yourself by renting one or renting a room in someones home.

You don't give much details. If you are over 18, you can run any where you want and not tell anyone where you have been. I would advise that you keep your ID's on you and not try to change your name. Now if you are under 18, it is illegal in most states. You will be considered a run-away. Why do you want to run away???

It depends on what state and what age you are. If you are 10 they will drag you back. If you are 17, its see ya later kid, but oh yeah...don't expect any financial support.

well if ur from australia ur allowed to "leave" home from 16 years of age. as long as there are some sort of circumstances at your home which make it unsafe for you to live there.....but if ur anywhere else then i dunno.
