He just doesn't seem like the kind of band that real football fans want to watch, maybe for girls or gay guy's but I didn't want to watch this guy. Maybe they are trying to attract a different crowd, what do you think?

I didn't think Prince was the right choice either.

To each his own. I LIKE Prince. I'm no "different" than you. What makes you think the Superbowl is just for knuckle draging Neanderthals? The marketing people don't think so! Commercials were aimed at beer drinkers, etc. Hello? This is 2007! Women watching the game were not just on hand to pass out the chips and dips!
Meanwhile, back in another section of "smallmindedville" the city where you obviously live, there are those who swear football is over populated with closet "gay" men!

I can understand what you're saying. I thought it was weird too that he did the Foo Fighters song. As for suggesting to us who should be liking Prince in the form of a question, I think you've already answered your own question for yourself. Truth is, the guy's probably the most talented composer/musician/performer working today believe it or not, (you probably don't, not many people nowadays know this) and he has the cojones to go LIVE on vocals and guitar in a fairly severe storm. I'm not sure how many other current day artists would attempt that, but I think not many. You've shown your limited knowledge of music, and perhaps economics with your question, but I understand where you're coming from.

Prince was fine, and he did a great job -- especially considering the rain. He did all his own music! They have a very wide audience to appeal to -- not just teenagers. Most Super Bowl watchers grew up in the 70's to 90's, and Prince was huge then. Maybe some of the listeners need to broaden their music experience. Prince's music will be around a lot longer than ANY of the Rappers today!

I thought Prince did a fine job last night, under the worst conditions. Kid Rock might have been a better choice for that crowd though.

Well if your going to give me a choice of the most overrated band in history - ROLLING STONES over Prince - Id take Prince...at least he can actually sing...and he is AMERICAN..

I think this was the best of ALL half game performance in all of the superbowls..

Are we talking about the
ex-my-name-is-an-unpronouncable-symbol guy Prince?
o.O .... Maybe they just didn't put a lot of thought into it, although I'm sure you have :)

agree with amazingly intelligent's opinion just cuz it's funny and i know you all don't like it XD

And maybe they chose Prince because all the good singers are NOT american.

Well I didn't think he was appropriate for the venue either. The preshow was likewise inappropriate. Not really sure who is in charge of this stuff, but felt like they could have made a better choice.

He's an artist too, just like anybody else, just because you dont know him or like him doesnt mean that he shouldnt have been on stage. Who did you want to see up there, 50 cent.?..lol

I agree. Prince is a has been AND a never should have been. Why was he even there? It should have been somebody more talented and more popular.
