Well, for starters, let me say I totally agree with you. And I'm really not defending selfish actions. But in today's world, most of our time is focused on trying to make a living. We tend not to have time to spend with friends and family and develop relationships. I think that's part of the problem. When we have close family/friends relationships, we learn how to accept others generosity and how to give it. I'm rather fortunate in that I have several people in my life that would give to me before taking for themselves. I only hope I give as much to them.

You're so right there! People do need to be more kind and generous.
But to your question: the only answer I can come up with is that this being mean and selfish is a way of justifying what has happened to them. Whether it be abuse in the past or being fired from a job, it just helps them escape rather than deal with their own problems.

those people that like to make other people suffer its because they are suffering a lot more than you, and sinse your happy, they cant just let you be happy while theyre in hurt in the inside, they are the most that need a hug because probably they have lots and lots of problems.
when you say selfish, i would say that they make other peoples life miserable just so they can laugh for a minute, i know thats not what you meant by selfish, but its also another one, they start making fun at other people, like appearance, voice, attitudes, problems and stuffs, they do it when theyre with some one, probably most of the times you will see that when theyre with some one, but if you see them alone they wont do it, and its because they want other persons to think they are cool, but in the inside they have lots of problems and they dont even get to know who are they, and probably most of us dosnt know who are we, but its just a step in life while we figure out what we want in life.

I think that they're not brought up well. I have devoted church people downstairs who hate me all of a sudden. They preach the Lord's word, and go to Bible Study also. And I never did anything against them. I think they must have a screw loose, and I just go on with my business.

some people are greedy thy cant get enough ur right people should be kind to others alot of times its jealiousy what ever the reason its wrong but always try to treat people the way you want to be treated.

1. Human is basically upgrated class of animal with having potential to develop intellectuality as per cercumstances .
2. With long struggle of life , human has now achieved enough capability of intellectuality.
3. To become real human one has to tranform itself internally from animality to human resulting in to flowering of Wisdom .
4.Wisdom is also a potential which is hiden in the form of seed, but sprouting ,growth, flowering depends upon greatest desire to know inner capability for which one has to rebel from all thought/beliefs/mind set and it is optional to survive.
5.Intellectuality is capability of human to function in the world effectively and if a human is not tranformed internally and its wisdom is not flowered , then he/she will be functioning in the world with animality whose main function is eat, drink, have sex ,and survive oneself.
6. Since flowering of wisdom happens rarley in human ( ref.point 4 above) so you may experience the peaple around you as so selfish and cause suffering to others. This is happening not todays only but it is happening since birth of humanity but difference is that earlier peaple were less intellectual and were not able to apply thier intellectuality to make the situation in his/her favour (animality property) but now a days intellectuality of human has developed manifold and society is also supporting this property so peaple are more able to make the situation in her/his favour ie are able to apply their intellectuality more effectively in her/his favour ( animality property)

Some people get breaks in life, others don't.
The one's who get the breaks are quick to pick on those who don't get the breaks.
So, in turn, they try to make your life just as miserable as theirs is by using their talent.
