Yes it is stoppable. There is a RIGHT way to conduct this "War on Terror.". Conservatives, are you listening???? YOU always claim "we have no better ideas", I am calling YOU on it!

1. FIND Osama Bin Laden no matter what it takes.

2. Work WITH the U.N and our Allies, not against them.

3. Train Iraq to defend their own country, then LEAVE. The resources there can be better utilized.

4. UNDERSTAND why the terrorists do what they do. Get a little deeper than "they're evil".

5. Cut off ALL foreign Aid and alliances with ANY government that supports terrorism. (No we are NOT now doing this).

6. Implement ALL recommendations of the 9-11 commission.

Unfortunately, "what's next" is more of the same..............

To tell the truth, the answer to stopping terrorism can be found in history. You see, terror is usually wielded by people who, on the whole, have nothing to lose and everything to gain. The question we should be asking is, "Why are they in that situation, and how can we fix it?"

Now, don't get me wrong; terror can sometimes be used by those who don't really need to, but consider the use of such methods "cost efficient." Sherman's Drive during the Civil War is an example of that kind of terrorism; and, the way I see it, should have been enough to have him hung. Still, the Continental Army of the Revolutionary War used terrorist, hit-and-run tactics to stop the British from re-acquiring and/or annihilating the fledgling U.S.A. However, there are still questions about the methodology of those actions, seeing as how terror from one side evoked terror from the other side.

But I digress... The problem with today's "War On Terror" (TM) is that too many factors are coinciding with the actual war itself. You see, it never really ends, unless one or both sides stop doing it. Or, even better, if both sides at least TRY to resolve the situation without bloodshed. Both ideas are very hard to enact, however, because of the various factors I mentioned earlier.

On top of that, there's money involved, which pretty much ends the whole topic right there...

Yes, Bush did fail, but in a couple years, we will thank him for catching a dictator that has killed millions. But as far as terrorism goes, it will be like war, and never will stop. But, you could just nuke all those terrorists and commies off the earth, but then their would be civil unrest. Each thing leads to another, and will keep going on. Just like in the Cold War. We gave Afghanistan weapons to fight off the USSR. Now, they are using these against us. This also led to the revolution led by Ussama Bin Laden. This caused 9/11. What will 9/11 cause? It might cause WW III with Muslims against other religions, or Civil War. So, I wouldn't say he failed miserably, just badly. He's one quarter left in the game, and is down by 7. Is he gonna take the fullback up the middle(strait at him),or the hale marry(getting the job done, but will take time to progress). This choice will make him a hero and win the game, or will kill him, and will leave the country in distress. This will effect the next president, and if he/she does not take immediate action to stop or proceed the war, we will be left to fight in the streets of America with Democrats, Republicans, and those like most us in the middle. With Civil War again.

I assume you mean radical Islamist terrorism. Terrorism will always be a possible tactic.
I don't see how you can say they failed miserably; there have been no successful terrorist attacks on US soil, and a number of foiled attempts. Al Qaeda was greatly weakened, the Taliban deposed from power in Afghanistan, and democracy started there. Then the government of a terrorist state in Iraq was taken out, and democracy started. As a result, other nations are more reluctant to sponsor terrorism.
I suppose you thought it should be easier.
But the radical Islamists are not going to give up anytime soon, they want to conquer the world. There is an internal conflict and debate within Islam also, and it will take time to stabilize.
So, we have a prolonged crisis ahead of us.

Fighting terrorism with cruise missiles is like killing ants at a picnic with a machine gun. To turn this around we have to look at the real problems: Our policies with Israel and middle eastern oil. Our best attack on terrorism would be to get off of middle east oil. Let the price drop to 10bucks barrel and see who smiles.

I thought about this a lot over the weekend. I saw a special on the Fox News Network. I don't know if it can be solved with military force. What people need is education so they have more options, and make better choices.

I think saying 'Bush failed miserably' is far from a good claim.

Perhaps it is better to say

'Bush escalated terrorism to the lowest point and is still continuing to do so'...

I wouldn't say he even tried to help the situation at all, he's too busy having a power trip with his troops in Iraq.
