you need a new timer knob mechanism. Record the model # from the machine and go to the appliance parts store. Part will probably cost you $35.

Shame you didn't give the make and model of your machine, Its sounds like an Indesit or Ariston, If that's the case it could be the heater any other make then i would go for the timer/programmer, if its over 5yrs, then off to the high street and invest in a new machine. Curry's have a good deal on Bosch at the moment.

Ok.. Under your machine, there is a belt.. That belt is either broken or stuck.. That is what moves the drum.. Or it is possible that the motor/alternator that powers the drum is broken. The belt is an easy fix.. If it is stuck.. You just have to give it some wd 40 and get it to move.. If it is the alternator, you will have to call the handy man..

Get a replacement. Once one thing goes wrong with a washing machine, it all starts going wrong. Its not worth wasting money on it.

Sounds like the circuit board is faulty. If you don't have a service contract, it probably will not be worth calling someone out if the machine is sreally old.

I would search on google for suggestions. In the search engine type in the name of your washer and find their website and search for the problem that you have.
