its cold in the house. the thermostat temperature is very low but my boiler is not turning on. I only can start my boiler by pressing the red button on the burner. I have check the fuel flow and have maintenace the unit as required. what can be wrong?

I assume it is gas (having a burner) is it auto pilot or standing pilot? If standing the thermocouple or thermopile could be going bad and shutting the system down. If autopilot (spark-ignitor or glow) the flame sensor could be going bad .

Turn off the boiler, then remove the large tube going to the chimney. Check for any blockage....bricks which fell to the bottom, birds, squirrels, etc.
If the pilot is staying lit, then it isn't the thermocouple.
