We signed up with Microsoft Office Live a few weeks ago. We were planning to build a website: http://www.yassia-inc.net which was supposed to be pointing users to our main main website: http://www.yassia-inc.com . Since it was free, we provided MS a CC and started the process. We found out that we cannot point our website to another. So, we built a simliar to http://www.yassia-inc.com website. Here are the problems that we have encountered:

1. There is hardly any documentation
2. Support is next to 0 and it is not in "English"
3. Support main goal is to upsell you by focing you to upgrade: "If you are serious about your site....BUY..."
4. You cannot load up files into root directory (Google / Yahoo validation files, sitemaps, error pages...).
5. You cannot include JavaScript. It hangs MS Office Live web "creator" and if you post it by mistake, it hangs web visitor's session.
6. For one reason or another MSN and most other major search engines do not pick up our site ( http://www.yassia-inc.net ).
7. There isn't a form builder or any database capabilities whatsoever.
8. URLs are not .HTML files
9. Traffice reports are powerful but somehow, some days activities are not reported.

Sorry but I had to tell you the way it is!

It looks very good but they do require a credit card, especially the free domain name. It is still in beta but looks pretty stable.

See extract below ...
"Why do you need my credit card for a free subscription?

Even though Microsoft Office Live Basics is a free service and Microsoft Office Live Collaboration is free during the beta period, we still require a credit card in order to validate that every customer is a legitimate entity.

Try with www.nvu.com is free and is a specific program to create websites, while Microsoft office products are not.

Once you create your website you need a place to host it (free or paid) but I guess you can find out about that later.
