Gears of War Tips?

Well I can pretty much execute every weapon in the game to perfection. Except, the Shotgun. Yeah I know thats a big deal aint it! I understand the majority of the players successful with this gun dont zoom. Ive tried this but still I am unsuccessful over 90% of the time. So got any tips? Lay them on me.

Well the different guns in Gears Of War can be strategically used in different parts of the game. The most obvious would be the Hammer of Dawn, used to kill berzerkers and such, which no other gun can be used. The shotgun is used best for close range combat, maybe in tight hallways or buildings... the high powered semi-automatic machine gun is the best weapon for most of the time, when u have multiple targets of low strength... but if u have a "boss" or stronger foe, then the fully automatic machine gun could be used to pump them full of lead, minimizing the time it takes, and maximising the damage. Then u can rush them with the shotgun and one blast should do the trick.
So the weapons in gears of War should be used strategically, find your own style of gaming and come up with your own strategies would be my advise!

Shotgun - try using this weapon WITHOUT AIMING. Seriously it's the best way to use this weapon when your in a vicious Locust/Cog fight. The melee sucks though.

Lancer - This weapon I hardly use. It's only really good for when both teams are close by. If everyone agrees to use this weapon and you stick together you can be unstoppable. Try aiming at the same opponent your teammate is shooting.

Hammer of Dawn - This weapon is pretty self-explanatory. Levels like "Fuel Depot", "Rooftops" and any other map that has this weapon you should always use it from inside a building. Why? Because the other team will hear it and run inside giving you the opportunity to bust out with the shotty. Use this weapon without aiming as well. Always try to kill your opponent on the initial blast. NEVER chase them with the beam. You could end up with no head. If you and another guy from the opposite team are all that's left you can kill yourself with it if he's near you. You'll get the kill.

Boltok/Pistol - These two are my fav's. The melee is really quick. Just shoot two or more bullets then smack him in the face. Or do the opposite. If they see you coming hit them then walk/jump backwards and then blind fire your pistol. Boltok's harder though due to it's slow firing rate. You can zoom as well. Use zoom to pop their heads off. If you get good enough it'll happen often.

Boomshot - This weapon can be pretty difficult to use. If you see an opponent hiding, blast it near him towards the ground then jump in there and smack 'em. Aim ahead of they're path if they're running towards you.

Longshot - The mother of all that is holy. This beauty is what everyone wants. Awesome melee, powerful shot and also a VERY STRONG active reload. Either your good with it or you suck. You can only get better by trying. Shoot a bullet then switch weapons so when you see someone you can switch back and do a nice active reload.

Grenades - People hate 'em...I use 'em. Blind throwing is the ONLY way to go. Oh, and tagging.

I know I talk alot about these things but just try them out. You'll see what I mean. HAPPY GAMING MY BROTHA FROM ANOTHA MOTHA!

Uhh dont aim with left trigger when enemy comes close and works well when enemy comes around corner you usually blast them to pieces, also learn to master sniper it is very effective

I don't really know, it is wierd, I suck with that weapon, too.
BUT.....who cares about that weapon, all I need is the machine gun.........and it's all gooooood.
