Tell them to shut up, and just don't care what they say. You can dress how ever you want. Just don't listen to other people whining. If you like what you are doing and it makes you happy go with it. I definately don't act like a grungy rocker and smoke and drink all day. I go to a university and Im a good guy, but I dress that way and I love the look not the actions and I think its awesome and I don't care what other people say.

You have to decide for yourself:
Either dress differently
Or
Accept that some people will think you're emo, and get on w/ it
If you don't act like an emo, many people will realize that and want to be your friend!! You can do it girl!!!!

I have the exact thing has happened to me. And you want to know what my advice is?
Don't pay them any attention. Seriously, if it is your friends saying it they are probably just kidding around. And if they aren't tell them to stop. They'll listen.
And if they aren't your friends why would you care? "emo" is just another stupid label out there. Unlike with your friends, simply saying "stop calling me emo" isn't going to make it any better. Actually, it'll probably just encourage them to keep saying it.
You know who you are, your friends know who you are, your family knows who you are, so just forget about what other people say.

Do not care what they say. But Why the Emo look? I do not get it. For girls it can look really cute but Guys just look stupid. Be yourself and tell everyone to leave you alone because they do not know you.

i get the same thing from people from my school, they call me emo and ask if i do anythin else but just sit there bein emo and it makes me so mad! im not emo i just may look like it and i just tell them to bug off and if they call me emo one one more time i will punch them in the face! well hope u can get them to stop!

Best way is just to ignore it, if people see that you are uncomfortable in your skin then the will keep talking. Be comfortable, be yourself. To tell you the truth, i think most would be jelous because they can express themselves the way they can. Ignore and they will stop, becuasue they can't get to you.

yh i have the same problem with my clique at skool..everyone calls us emo cuz we luv the style! Just be yourself who cares what those people think..theye're just jealous cuz u got style..unless u really wanna go prep lol! doubt it!

wear a lot of pink for a few weeks - mini skirts, uggs, and other girly, preppy clothes. i used to be a tom boy and people used to call me lesbo. then i wore a lot of pink and it stopped. then, you can go back to who u r, but just add a bit of pinkness - by the way, i HATE pink, butcha gotta do what u gotta do!

well sorry hum but if you dress it you are it i know it sucks people labeled me all the time they thought i was a cheerleder or a punk or a skater or a whatever but it doesnt matter what they say if your not then your not and thats all that matters
