Why do people only get executed at midnight?

for instance the electric chair and lethal injection it only happens at midnight why?

That used to be the case. It's now done at different times.
It was done at midnight in the past because most people were asleep and it kept protesters from showing-up at the prison also it fulfilled the order of execution for that day.

FYI, they are also executed commonly at 7 AM, or earlier.

But, yes, midnight is a common time. It is because the protesters forces will be minimized. They will be less likely to show up at midnight. Otherwise, it would be more of a media spectacle. That's what I have always thought.....although there may be a better reason.

Because executions take place in prisons and prisons want to have everyone locked down before executing the condemned person. It's a very emotional time for the entire prison and can cause real problems.

It is done so that the condemned will have a full 24 hours to get a stay of execution from the Governor. Last minute stays are not unknown, so this is primarily done as an extension of fairness to the condemned.

Because midnight is the start of a new day, and because at that time of night, people in general will be more calm as opposed to in the day time when they are all wound up.

well if someone is set to be executed on say Jan 1st. you wanna do it as SOON as possible so on Dec 31st you wait until 12:00:01 the next day.
