It's quite a bit above average. 100 to 101 is the overall average.

Did the IQ test take account of your age - most are designed for people aged 18 and older, if there was no accounting for age the result may be a bit off but all the same 115 is a good result.

IQ Scale

Over 140 - Genius or almost genius
120 - 140 - Very superior intelligence
110 - 119 - Superior intelligence
90 - 109 - Average or normal intelligence
80 - 89 - Dullness
70 - 79 - Borderline deficiency in intelligence
Under 70 - Feeble-mindedness
Normal Distribution of IQ Scores

50% of IQ scores fall between 90 and 110
70% of IQ scores fall between 85 and 115
95% of IQ scores fall between 70 and 130
99.5% of IQ scores fall between 60 and 140
Low IQ & Mental Retardation

An IQ under 70 is considered as "mental retardation" or limited mental ability. 5% of the population falls below 70 on IQ tests. The severity of the mental retardation is commonly broken into 4 levels:

50-70 - Mild mental retardation (85%)
35-50 - Moderate mental retardation (10%)
20-35 - Severe mental retardation (4%)
IQ < 20 - Profound mental retardation (1%)
High IQ & Genius IQ

Genius or near-genius IQ is considered to start around 140 to 145. Less than 1/4 of 1 percent fall into this category. Here are some common designations on the IQ scale:

115-124 - Above average
125-134 - Gifted
135-144 - Very gifted
145-164 - Genius
165-179 - High genius
180-200 - Highest genius

- I am guessing you took a free online IQ test. For fun, my friend took one. He scored 128. Then, I took the exact same test with totally different answers, and scored a 128 also. My mom took me in to a psychologist to get my IQ tested. I scored 160, which explains why I do so well in school. However, what I am doing on Yahoo! Answers, I do not know.

Well, i would say that an IQ test for you at this age is not appropriate as this is the actual time when your brain would start developing. After one year your IQ could be 130.First of all,let me congratulate you for that score. But please do check about what the test taker says about that IQ because on one test you could get an IQ of 100 and still be a genius and on the another 120 maybe and even at that score an average person. So there is no as such standard IQ test.I gave 2 IQ tests and their scores were 146 and 157(a vast difference you can clearly see).So just check your percentile and make merry.

If you took a standardized test designed for someone your age, then your IQ is in the high average to slightly above average range. If you took a test designed for adults, then your results may not be accurate and you may have a higher IQ than 115.

Yes, because they consider genius at 140 or higher, so consider yourself downright smart. One other thing to think of is was this test for children or was it a test designed for ages above your age.
Also think about the types of questiosn you were asked. I would say this is pretty good. I am a 36 year old and took an advanced IQ test for adults and made 118. Take into consideration all of the facotrs going into the test and then go back and consider for yourself whether you think this is a good score or not. I think you did quite well.

Certainly! Congratulations to you. I.Q. tests are adjusted so that a score of 100 is exactly average. Half of the people will be higher and half lower. IQ stays about the same all through life.

The grade you're in has nothing to do with it. 115 is better than average. 100 is considered average.

It is at or just above average. You should be a "B" student, but would have to work harder to get "A's." 125 to 140 would be High "B's" and "A's." Mine was 157 in 7th grade, and I got straight "A's."
