I've noticed that every toaster I've owned had its cord in the front. Does anyone know why that is? It just doesn't seem to be a very stratgetic place to put the cord.

Riiight!!! i just got a toaster for xmas and wonder the same damn thing!Toasters are one appliance that can catch on fire fairly easily, it's probably so we can see the entire length of the cord in case it does catch fire we can catch it. And if it were behind, it would take us a little while to see it.Or so we dont have to reach over the fire to unplug it!! Mine has a slot on the back side where the cord can be fished through the back.i think its just to get on our nerves.

That's wierd. ALL of mine have had cords in the back. As a matter of fact, I don't recall EVER seeing one with a cord in the front?
