You have to wait for the baby to be born. Once he/she is born the father needs to acknowledge paternity by signing the birth cert. You can then have a Family Law Attorney help with the process of having the rights signed over. Be aware that some localities wont allow rights to be signed over unless there is another person receiving the rights. I would have a consultation with a Family Law Attorney before the baby is born so you know exactly how things are gonna go and get advice from your lawyer. Remember that once this child is born, the father may change his mind. Take Care Honey.

Call your local court and get information regarding putative father. that should help. I think they have like 30 days to come foward after the baby is born, otherwise he can loose his rights. Think about it first though, are you financially able to raise this child? like provide health insurance, food, clothing and shelter? Because if you are planning on depending on welfare and the state for that, then I would not have him sign over rights, get child support from him so YOU and the FATHER can be the ones financially supporting the baby, not the state.

just keep in mind when doing this if you are making a consciesce decision to exclude the father by your choice...you may become ineligible for public assistance for the baby so make sure you can support the baby 100% before you do this.
