How can I become a Teacher?

i really want to become a teacher for grades
K-3rd

but my grades arent the best. and im not sure if i can get accepted to a good university.

what classes do i need to take in high school?
and what do i do after high school?

im in my second semester of 10th grade.

please help

In short, teaching requires a 4 year degree. During your training in college, they will require you to spend some time in the classroom at a local school as well. I think it is for upwards of a semester and it is called "student teaching".

I don't think there is anything special you can take in high school other than what is needed to get into the college of your choice. If you were more interested in teaching high school (let's say science), then I would have said to take as many science classes as possible. For K-3, I'm not really sure there is anything in HS per se that will prepare you for that...psychology perhaps. Do they even offer that?

You need to focus on your studies and bring your grades up. Basically you need to take the essential classes that you are required to graduate depending on the state that you live in, most states it is anywhere from 20-21 units. You will need to be prepared to take the SAT sometime before you graduate high school, preferably your junior year, so in case your score is not that high, you can possible retake it in your senior year and score higher. I think you may only be able to take it once. You have to make a pretty high score to get into most colleges, so you need to study harder, pick up the grades, and you will excel. You could also visit the college that you are interested in attending and speak to the admissions director there that can tell you more about what you should so to prepare you for the college that you want to get into. The best thing to do is study, study, study and make the grade, so you can become a teacher.
