There are always stories about people in tragic situations in the news, if that helps you to be more realistic in looking at your own situation. For me, though, it seems like the more I compare myself to others, the more miserable I get.

The following things have helped me to put stuff into perspective in the past:

-if you are generally satisfied with your life and who you are, think about how all of the "crap" that you've had to put up with has contributed to who you are today. If that stuff hadn't happened, you wouldn't be you.

-try and imagine how the little things that you are stressing over today will look in 1 year, 5 years, or 10 years...you probably won't think about most of it.

ummm...my friend has (what was it called again? oh-) borderline personality disorder and had tried to commit suicide at least 2 times. My other friend was raped when she was young and doesn't trust men and is frequently abused by her parents and whenever she tries to tell Child Protective Services, her parents twist it around and she ends up doing time for self-defense. She also has several mental disorders and her psychiatrist has perscribed max doses of at least 5 different pills. feel better about your own life now?
