i forgot and it isn't in my book...i got to answer this question:

a board is leaning against a building so tht the top of the board reaches a height of 18 ft. the bottom of the board is the ground 4 ft away from the wall. what is the slope of the board as a positive number?

any help will be appreciated..

for this one it seems like you need Pythagorean theorem .. (a² + b² = c²) to find the length of that
BUT anyways.... you would find the 2 points.. and then use y2-y1 / x2-x1.. .to find the slope.. the points seem to be (0,0) and (4,18)

change in y=run

y = mx +b where m is the slope i think...

find m if i remember... which i dont...
