If you use it too much your lips will stop producing their own moisture... which will make you want to use the vaseline even more- which is just a bad cycle. Same thing with using eye drops too much- your eyes stop producing tears and you need more visine- which is bad- it van eventually make your eyes dependent on it and affect your vision. Try to wean yourself off of it a little at a time. Once in a while is not bad- just not everyday.

Vaseline doesn't work for dry, chapped lips if that's your problem.

Try Cortibalm for a week and i'm telling you, you'll never want to use anything else.

It has no added fragrances like Burts Bees and the best part is, it truly works.

You can get a free sample from the website by sending a self addressed stamped envelope and if you like it, buy it from Ebay. I bought mine from there and it only came out to less than 5 dollars for one since shipping was only $1.

go read the comparisons on the website and give it a try.

There are some people who say it's no good for chapped dry lips but personally I think that's complete rubbish. I've been using it for years and years, I never have chapped lips anymore even in freezing windy winter weather and it would be my desert island beauty product. Lip balms often have perfume and colour in them which I find makes my lips dry, and also encourages you to lick your lips which makes them drier too. Carmex or Burt's Bee's lip balm is good if you don't want to use Vaseline but Vaseline is cheap, reliable, effective, has a million and one uses and you can get it anywhere.

Vaseline works great on your lips! It's probably more moisturing than most chapsticks and feels good on your lips. Also, here's some helpful advice if you get a cold. When you start sneezing and blowing your nose so much your nose turns red and burns rub some vaseline on where it's red and sore. That should make it feel much better. =]

I am 44 years old and have been using vaseline on my lips for as long as I can remember. My lips are never dry or chapped so how can that be bad?

Not sure about this. Been out many times on a boat sea fishing oct/nov when it was very frosty in the morning and cold but sunny later on. Had put Vaseline on my lips before we set sail. Never again. Rest of guys were the same.

I would never recommended it to be used because it is made up of petroleum!!!!
If you have dry lips purchase a baby toothbrush and lightly buff your lips with it- this will remove the dead skin.
It's safest to use all natural products on your skin, especially your lips- if you can't find any that you like try a lip conditioner, it will still have some chemicals in it but usually no petroleum.

** Stay away from products with Petroleum and Mineral Oil

If you use the medicated vaseline petroleum jelly, it has a brown label there should be no problem that is used for years and years and is still been used, I think you will have to search real good to find it.

Whoever told you that is an idiot. I advice you to cut off all contact with them. Vaseline isn't bad, it is probably better than chapstick in terms of moisture. The only way it could be bad is if your allergic to it.

It is fine and probably better to use. What causes the problems with chapped lips even after we apply some kind of balm, is that we continue to lick our lips. That is a no-no.
