Here's the lowdown on wearing shoes without socks:

It's not going to hurt your feet as far as causing broken arches, tendinitis, or anything like that. However there are a number of really good reasons to wear socks in your sneakers anyway. Here are a few of the most common.

You can more easily get blisters on your heels, toes and the balls of your feet wearing new shoes without socks due to the friction caused by the stiffer uppers of new shoes rubbing your bare feet. Socks basically act as a buffer between your skin and the leather, Gortex, or nylon, or whatever else your shoes are made of.

The biggest reason to wear socks with your shoes is cleanliness and personal hygiene. Normally socks absorb the sweat from your feet and when you take your shoes off, most of the sweat stays with your socks which, I presume, you'll wash at some point. If you don't wear socks, then all of the sweat from your feet is soaked up by the insoles and uppers and material of your sneakers. The buildup of sweat in your shoes, the heat produced by your body and bacteria and fungi that naturally live just about everywhere make a "perfect storm" of conditions that will absolutely lead to terrible foot odor after just a few weeks or months.

The other issue that is very likely to occur is Athlete's Foot, which is at best an irritating skin condition and, in the worst cases, a fungal infection which requires medical attention and powerful anti-fungal ointments and drupgs to cure. Athlete's Foot is also highly contagious since the fungus which causes it spreads easily in locker rooms, public showers and bathrooms, etc.

So wearing socks with your sneakers is a good idea, overall, but as in all things, it's entirely up to you to decide whether the potential consequences are worth it if you truly hate wearing socks and sneakers. If you're just worried about looking too dorky with socks, sneakers and shorts, the wear some of those little athletic socks that can hardly be seen anyway-- they'll at least protect you from the likelihood of having shoes that smell so bad your friends & family make you leave your shoes outside the house...

I love to wear my sneakers without socks as well!!! I do it all the time!!! It will OK for your feet if you wear your sneakers without socks it will not hurt your feet if you wear them without socks as long you have good quality sneakers, and have a pair of sneakers that are specificly made to be worn without socks. The only problem you may have is your feet will stink bad, so I recommend that you put foot odor spray inside the sneakers after you take them off your feet (You need to wait at least 24 hours before you put them back on your feet) OR you can put deodorant on your feet before you put them on. As a matter a fact it is great for your feet if you don't wear socks at all, because the more you do it, the more tougher your feet are going to get, and your feet will become used to the sneaker, and the cold weather. There is nothing wrong with wearing sneakers without socks. It is also a style these days.

I think it is Ok for short periods of time however in the heat your feet may sweat and cause Athlete's Foot and other fungi to grow on your feet and of course you may see some dry skin afterwards when your feet dry out.

In addition, you may see some unwanted odor in your sneakers after awhile.

It is ok in moderation.

No!! It is not good for your feet or your shoes. you can buy show liners ( very thins socks that fit under the ankle) at Old Navy. Your feet will get blisters and caluses on them and make them very ugly and your shoes will start to smell like dirty feet!!!

I am sure it is OK for your feet as long as you don't have anything sharp or biting in the bottom of your shoe (lol). I would worry about your shoes though because wearing no socks wears them out pretty fast.

I do as well, but it may not be healthy, as sweat and warmth are an excellent place or breeding ground for bacteria. You may or may not get some infection, if you're not using any foot powder. But as long as you feel good about what you are doing than that's all that matters!!
