I know this question is weird but I was born in Michigan and at age 3 my family moved to Montana and I am now 20. Well everybody at work keeps telling me I have an accent and I don't hear anything different from the way everybody else talks, but everybody I work with seems to think I have an accent. I don't think there is any way I could have an accent being born in Michigan and living in Montana since I was 3. What do you think?

Everybody has an accent.

People from Michigan definately talk different than people from Toronto, New York, Boston, Vancouver, or Florida.

You have an accent. I'm from Ohio and everyone always knows it, even when I go to Southern Ohio, which is simply a different part of the state I grew up in. Everyone knows I'm not from the East Coast; everyone has an accent. I'm from Michigan and was shocked the first time I went down south and someone identified me as a "Michigander" by my accent! We can all be identified by our accents. As one of my best friends says, "I don't talk with an accent, you're hearing me with an accent!" (LOL)

I have lived in Michigan all my life. I don't believe there is an accent unique to Michigan.

yes. everyone does. i find michigan accents kind of sound like wisconsin, but not as obvious or annoying. I like their accents and can tolerate them. sorry but i just can't stand listening to thick wisconsin accents! it bugs the **** out of me! i'm so sorry to all those wisconsinians out there but it's the truth. the more west in michigan you get, the more you notice the wisconsin in their voices.

Everyone speaks with an accent, which is simply a variation, however slight, in pronunciation and lilt.
