I would say the words of MLK, Jr. : "I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become reality. I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word."
Then, I would remind them of the fact that sooner or later, we will all have to "bury the hatchet" insofar as racism and resentment about slavery. Whites, blacks and everyone in between. We MUST get over it...forever. We can't keep living with our ancestors mistakes. Forgiveness must be granted to each and every race. The black people must repossess their pride and responsibility. Rap stars and athletes are (largely) not role models for the black youth. Get over this addiction to "stating our uniqueness". It is only alienating our cultures. How is that?

That they are great men, leaders, fathers , and the head of their household they have the ability to lead their families into a wonderful future, to mold the minds of their children, to care , love and nurture them into the people that they want them to be.
