used to when i turn on my ps2 it said disc read error, then we got instructions on how to fix it weve had to do it about 5 times in about a year, just recently it started again and we went in followed the instructions. turned it on and the disc will not spin, and once in a while it will say disc read error, it just so happens to have stopped when i got 2 new games, now that really sucks...

You can replace or have your PS2 fixed with a new laser. It's less expensive than you think.
The slim pstwos are more likely to have broken lasers than the PS2.

I had that once on my regular ps and I use a CD Laser Lens Cleaner and fixed it right up.You might try it is would be better than a new game system.

well its sounds like your laser eye has died so replace it or replace the console
