My significant other and I are thinking about renting an apartment together. Neither of us have ever had our own place and neither of us have any credit. What do you think our chances are of getting a place? Is it better to have both our names on the lease or no? Why? This is something new for me, so of course, I don't know much about it. I'd appreciate hearing from people who are actually in the business of renting out apartments (managers) too.

Put both names on the lease so your incomes are combined.

You will need first months rent plus 2 month security deposit.

So if rent is $750. you will need $2,250.00 to move in.

Also, if utilities are not included you will need deposits for these.

Many lease applications allow for co-signers if you do not have credit.
