it will go back into gear if u change it manually but when the car is warmed up it only happens rarely

the transmission fluid is low,there is a plug on transmission intead of dipstick.its difficult to acsess unless car is on a hoist.a fair mechanic wont charge much to top up the fliud.it may be a good idea to have a automatic trans service as they should be serviced at 40k intervals.if you just ignore the problem you will damage transmission.

This car be be low of transmission fluid or the filter may be stopped up.Check the fluid level in the tranny if it is full you may need to have the fluid replaced and filter changed.If you don't want to spend much money you add a quart of lucas transmission fluid renewer.This may help but replacing the old fluid will probably make tranny last longer.
