OK I absolutely LOVE to cheer but Im not on the squad, yet!!! For all u cheerleaders out their, what do u have to do to make the team? Also, how do u do the flips, cartwheels, backtucks, back handsprings, etc. Step by Step instructions would be nice, too!! Also DO NOT tell me it is dangerouse to do this stuff at home! I know that!! And DO NOT tell me to go to my local gym, either because I just dont know where they have one cuz i recently moved here like about a year ago.

As a current cheer coach, I will tell you what I tell all of the girls that come to me about try-outs.

First of all, know your routines/cheers backwards and forwards. Be able to start at any point in the routine without flaw. I have seen many a judge stop a contestant and tell them to pick it up from another point in the cheer. THIS IS CRUCIAL!

Keep your movements sharp and in proper form! No sloppy arms, wrists etc. You can lose lots of points in this area. You can go to cheerleading.about.com to find the proper form. Know hi-v, lo-v, hi-touchdown, lo-touchdown, T, split T, right and left diaganols, table top, buckets, candlesticks, daggers, right and left L's and K's.

Remember to be personable. Smile, show a little attitude, even wink at the judges during certain movements.

If you are able, demonstrate as many jumps as you can. Toe touch, herkies, hurdles etc. This is where you can out-shine the competition. If you are uncomfortable with tumbling, compensate by being EXTREMELY ENERGETIC AND ENTHUSIASTIC at the end of your cheers. Jump, yell, throw your arms up in a high tight motion...whatever you can do to exhibit spirit. If you can do the splits....DO IT.

I know that you don't want to go to a gym. Yes, they can be expensive...but they can teach you these moves the proper way, and you will learn them quicker and be more proficient than girls who have tried to learn them at home. I have seen so many girls "learn" how to do a cartwheel, roundoff etc, only to have to be re-taught the correct way. You might want to reconsider this
later on.

I always tell our young ladies to wear their hair in a pony tail, off of their face. Not too much make-up and NO jewelry. Let them know that you are a serious contender, not there for a beauty contest.

I wish you the best!

I'm not a cheerleader, but I do have some common sense. If you don't know where the gym is, it's pretty simple to look that up. I've only lived in this town for a year, and I know where all three gyms are. The gym is your best bet to learn those moves. They usually have gymnastics classes, or cheerleading classes that you could enroll in. Other things that would help is to get into good physical shape, take yoga to become more flexible, and eat well so you stay healthy.
Some of those moves really are dangerous, if not supervised and done properly. You may not care now, but when you become a paraplegic because you landed wrong, you'll wish you did things a bit differently. These dangers are very real, and if you mess your body up now, you'll regret it when you are older, wiser, and in pain.

Hope this helps...

Ok..well i relle cant tell you how to do stunts but...
To get on a squad you have to be loud, stiff, patent and also pick the cheer that you know best to use in auditions
Try to learn how to do a cartwheel and roundoplhs by yourself, to tell you the truth they are quite simple

When attempting cartwheel:

Remeber that there are 4 points to it:
You first hand that touches the ground is 1
Your second hand taht touches is 2
You first fooot it 3
Your second foot if 4
and when you land, land with you Hands up in the air and i big smile on your face!

Roundolph same deal:
except instead of 4 points, there is 3

1st hand is 1
2nd hand is 2
and your two feet together are 2
and land same way

Im sorry but i ccant help you with back tucks or handsprings

Hope it helped!!!
