The first time I ice-skated was when I was about 40 (never had the opportunity). I knew very well, that I would fall on my butt, that it would hurt, it would be too cold, I would get bruised, but I wanted to do it anyway, just because I had never done it before.
So, I put on the skates, and got out on the ice. I fell alot less than I thought (only about 3 times). It didnt' hurt nearly as much as I thought it would. Some other good skaters helped me out some, and it wasn't as cold as I thought.
All I did was skate around in circles, and by the time the hour was up at the skating rink, I could almost do a left turn by myself. When I got home I didn't have any bruises. My legs were sore from using muscles I wasn't used to, but that was OK.
I had fun. And I skated again after that (and watched hockey in that skate-arena, too).

Why be scared of it? I ice-skate and it is fun. Yes, it is painful when we fall out of a jump rather than land, but u can get badly hurt in any sport. maybe u should try it somemore and get half way good at it. U don't have to learn to figure-skate, but once u can stay up without being terrified, ask urslef that question again.

Ice Skating isn't all that bad. Once you start to skate you'll figure out there was nothing to be scared of. Lakes don't freeze over where I live, so it's the lack of money that keeps me from doing so.

I am terrified of it. I have gone about 3 times I think, and I have a fear of falling and smashing my teeth into the ice. It's awful. Maybe if I would have learned earlier in life, but I never went until I was 18 or so, and I was scared the entire time!

Once you try it, you get used to it (at least for me). If you don't like it after trying it, then oh well. Don't try it again.
