with such an insular one world view.

As a true patriot, you should be like me and realize that great as the US is it cannot stand on it's own in the world.

Constantly using force against dissenters is the first sign of immaturity and insecurity..

I respectfully disagree. The rest of the world chooses to bury their heads in the sand, and look where it's got them. I would prefer that we *not* stand alone, but someone has to stand up to the terrorists.

Look at Europe - they've tried to get along, and look what happens? Spain got bombed right out of Iraq. France had *how* many riots last year? England had their horrible bombing, and they have foiled several other terroristic attacks. Pockets of Sharia Law are showing up all over Europe.

Look at Canada - a small town tried to pass some laws to help new immigrants assimilate. Just basics - nothing fancy - you know, like....you can't burn your wife alive. You can't throw acid on her, either. (GASP) They also frown on stoning - in public or private. Guess what? The Muslim Council of Montreal is furious! Why? Because these laws are anti-immigrant and intolerant. Um - what?

I'm much more concerned about the fact that most of the world chooses not to see the very real threat of fanatic Islam.

Humanist - I'm very flattered! I know you and I disagree on just about everything. A thumbs-up from you is quite an honor!!

Don't pat yourself on the back too hard.

I actually believe the U.S. has a greater understanding of our role in the World then most other countries. This is supported by the fact that the U.S. is always the first and biggest contributor to all/most World causes, including AIDS, education, disaster assistance, peace keeping, etc. It is rare they use force against anyone, especially those that just disagree with the U.S. You will find that all instances of force were/are supported by many of the major powers at one time or another (all U.N. resolutions against Iraq/Saddam were supported by all the main powers, until the war at least). Force is not always a sign of immaturity and insecurity, but often is a sign of insight, wisdom and understanding. Sometimes there is no other way.

Politicians, especially the President, will always face difficult times with war, and there will usually be dissenters at home (which clearly you are). It's a no win.

It's because of the respect the U.S. has for all people, and the recognition we need a stable and progressive World, that the U.S. does what it does.

Here's a thought. If we really wanted to go back to the days of the Monroe doctrine, we probably could. It would be expensive at first, but we really can do it. And we'd still be the world's biggest consumer.

I think we can be a lot better off by ending all corporate welfare, and foreign aid. There's just too much resentment when we help and when we don't help. I'd rather not waste any more money and at least have the satisfaction that I wasn't taken for granted any longer.

I disagreed about naviety. Humanist, we both disagree due to different perspective. I think majority of us Americans do not give a care whats going on. Most people are secure having jobs, food, roof over their head, etc. Most people do not write their congressman to let them know their viewpoints.

We are lazy and lack of motivation of doing what we believe is right.

each and every sort has its elitists. it is merely that deeper you bypass into it and the extra energetic you're in its community the extra it is going to change into glaring. i ought to bypass on for days about hip hop elitists and how snobby the autonomous/underground scene is (it truly is sarcastically made out of extra frequently than not 30 year previous white adult adult males). And truly one of my good pals who's merely as a lot an fanatic of lack of existence metal tells me close to similar memories about the elitists in his track scene. in case you actually carry out somewhat digging you'll locate that maximum communities of track followers have a tendency to imagine an identical inspite of in the adventure that they have got thoroughly opposite tastes in track. All despise inspite of is mainstream, robotically scrutinize an artists technique and structure, hang to a "golden era", and performance a good type of self-righteous followers who imagine the extra imprecise the more effective.

Because Truth and facts allows us to not think as a self proclaimed "freethinker" Opinions rule over "freethinkers". The US is the babysitter of the world and it is time to accept that fact.

Because, for the most part, Americans don't read and watch a lot of TV. And they are relatively well off financially...if this isn't a recipe for naivety, I don't know what is.
