Ie. If I have an idea for a food company to sell, how should I go about selling that to them? How do I make myself appear reputable without them stealing my idea? Please go into detail. Thank you.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* Winning at New Products: Accelerating the Process from Idea to Launch by Robert G. Cooper

Make at least one of the product, called a prototype. Using it, you can actually show what you are talking about. Anyone can have a conceptual idea. But, going from an idea to paper to demonstration for purposes of selling is a great leap.
