I really love this song but I cant figure out what it means or what its about

they were interviewing Adam not so long ago and he was saying that this song is about being numb to everything around you. like when something bad happens, or when he gets hurt he would feel nothing. He wouldn't feel any pain at all. So in the song he's saying he'd rather feel the hurt, and rather feel the pain than not feel nothing at all. So rather than being numb, he'd prefer the pain because he's at least feeling something.
There's a few interpretations of this song, though. Some people think it's about self mutilation and others think it's just a bad break up song.

"I don't really like this song. It just strikes me as whiny and negative. Granted a lot of 3DG's songs aren't positive (actually, i don't think ANY are, besides the point), but they aren't so negative to speak of self-mutilation, which, in my opinion, is a stupid thing to do. Adam Gontier (lead singer) said this album is about how no one understands them, and the loneliness you get from being surrounded by people you hardly know while on tour. I wonder, did these guys cut themselves on tour or something? Otherwise, where does this song come into the fact that no one understands them?"

It's better to feel pain than being completely numb to the world. and also, not all emotional pain is caused by a broken heart.

I don't know but, i think it's about how people try to avoid the pain. Sometimes you just have to face it, otherwise you won't know what it feels like.

kinda self-explanitory "i'd rather feel pain than nothing at all" means just that. it may be pain, but at least he can feel.

Emo ppl hurting themselves b/c they'd rather feel pain than nothing at all.... If you've ever seen the video it will throw you off track but if you listen to the lyrics you will be able to dtermine what the meaning is.
