A splinter group might, but it would be hard pressed
to nail them down. Most carpenters would be on the level, others would screw with your head unless the judge hammered them down,I saw this happen.

Generally speaking, yes. Varnishing cost extra.

At the same time however... I'd never trust a carpenter witness.

Everything they make is a fabrication... screwed, nailed, glued, sometimes the results can be a bit warped, and as always - it all depends on a good foundation... so they sometimes finger the bricklayer in order to protect their assets.

I think it matt'ers to them not to gloss over the truth as they see it, so they probably tell the plane truth about what they saw, yeah.
