Red is the most visually stimulating color, so it catches your eye immediately. Since red is so stimulating people always put it on the most important button, so that when something important or bad happens anyone can know which button to press. Therefore whatever has occured can be stopped or started by anyone. (It is also the most common color used for buttons in the movies because it will show up on almost any color film easily.)

people see them as danger buttons..... temptation gets the better of some people and its to stop the temptation of pushing it with a threat of emergancy...... personally i think its a good thing... but then again...... red buttons on a designer coat or dress could be equally important too lol..
(like the name by the way... i lost the plot years ago too... lol)

People make critical items, such as emergency buttons, fire extinguishers, stop signs, etc brightly colored so they will be seen easily. Red is a color that is quickly distinguished by most people.
And red M&Ms taste the best , too ;- )

Can't believe no one got this yet. Red is not the most easily seen color. In fact it turns black at night. Red stands for blood. Get careless around red warnings and you may lose your life.

People relate red to danger, fire exits are red, stop signs are red, the light to stop is red, blood is red,ect. You see.
