If you really look at the polls...MOST Americans are for legalizing alcohol under for 16 or 18 or above, MOST Americans are for legalizing marijuana for medical, and non-habitual use (once a month for fun)...MOST Americans, are pro-choice, and approve abortion. MOST Americans, support Israel as an ally, but believe our biased unconditional support of its actions toward our ally will hurt our interests as a nation in the long run (most would prefer a more even handed approach --'fair'--). MOST Americans, believe we shouldn't be in Iraq, MOST Americans believe prostitution, to some degree, should be legalized in order to get rid of prostitutes off the streets (especially near schools), MOST Americans, believe the Christian lobby is composed by a bunch of nutcases, including Christian themselves.

So why the hell do we put up with their policies? We can't get a legalization of things that are just common sense, because it would be uuuuu...blocked by congress...by...them (CL).

No and I disagree with your points on abortion, teen drinkinng and marijuana and prostitution.

By your logic, if MOST Americans oppose gay marriage, should it therefore be illegal?

You should have at least given a source for your information, because I don't buy it. I've generallly been a Democrat, who is also Christian, so I'm not sticking up for the right wing here, just wanting some evidence. I really don't think MOST Americans are many of those things, especially the drinking and the belief that the Christian lobby is a bunch of nutcases. It may be true that MOST Americans believe lobbyists in general are nutcases. You fail to mention that MOST Americans are opposed to gay marriage, are for gun rights, are for free trade, are for less government interference and for more individual accountability.

I think we need to get some major restrictions on lobbyists and also should consider passing a bill allowing for line item vetos. Why not? Is it because we are afraid some of the lobbyists won't get their money or needs met? At least your over generalizations may make some people think about some of the problems with our political system, which are many.

I do not know what surveys you are reading. This is not a sampling of American opinion. Please legalize purposeful brain damage, killing babies, the professional spread of STD's and silence a significant demographic group just because it is conservative and religiously-based?
Common sense? Most Americans would in fact say not.
The government has a compelling interest to maintain a quality of life that these ideas damage.

Aren't you describing Amsterdam? Seems like their country has already done MOST of this. Why not go live their for a while and see if you like it first and then come back and report on it?

I don't know about the drinking and the non-medical use of marijuana is 50/50.

but these people vote in large numbers. and they live in states with a lot of electoral votes.
I would blame a lot of our problems on them
