This one is easy. Please reference our neighbors to the North who have Universal Health Care

1) Super long wait times - sometimes over 6 months
2) Overall Effective Tax Rate is well over 60%
3) The health care services delivered sucks.

How about another perspective... If you can name one government agency that run efficiently and is dedicated to providing you with high quality service, then I say model that system and implement UHC. If not, then abandon this insane notion.

Against-
Richer people who have their own coverage they already pay for will, as they always do, pay more taxes, and thus funds the health care costs.

For-
People will be less likely to get each other, including those rich folks, sick. Thus allowing the rich folks to be more productive and make more money to fund the UHC.
It's a big giant circle :-)

If its like the NHS in the UK, then depending on your stance (Republican or Democrat) you need to be aware that it would mean a rise in taxes, but cheaper health care for all. Depends on what you believe in politically.

If it is as successful as the NHS, then it has to be a good idea.

Because now tax payers cover the cost of those that refuse to work and earn their own benefits. If I work hard and can afford above average health care because of it, I don't want to be stuck with the sub-standard healthcare given to everyone else.

If the government is going to run it that's good enough reason for me to be against it.

It will be expensive. It will be poor quality. It will drag all other healthcare down to its level.
