Well, a lot of these people are right about the possible fighting part and larger tank, but if they breed, here's what to do:
1. wait for eggs to be laid in bubble nest
2. when they are, IMMEDIATELY separate the female. the male will be overprtective and aggressive.
3. when they hatch, feed them food ground to a dust. also, keep them in the tank until they are a few mm long.
4. When they are big enough, you can start feeding them larger chunks of food. shrimp pellets and bloodworms are good.
5. not all of them will live, but don't be concerned.
6. When you can discern their gender, separate the males, but you can keep the females together, as they are very docile. WARNING: DO NOT PUT THE MALES IN THE SAME TANK! about 2 pints of water and a lot of surface area is great for each betta, so yes, you shoud get a larger tank for the females, and smaller ones for the males.

Generally male and female bettas aren't together. Males can get along with other tropical fish fine.
It depends on tank size. In a too small tank one will kill the other (male or female) or they may breed. If she is old enough to be carrying eggs the male should build a bubble nest. The female may get horizontal stripes to show stress if the male is fighting her, or vertical stripes to show she is ready for breeding.
In a large tank they will be ok.
Don't buy a breeder trap. Females lay the eggs and then the male take care of them. Its not like livebearers where you need to seperate the fry. Breeding bettas is quite different. That person with 5 years of fishkeeping experience knows nothing about betta breeding obviously.

Most commonly you will need at least 3 females for the male otherwise the male will pester her so much that she will die from stress. There are over 20 species of Betas, some are mouth brooders and others build bubble nests. The water should be slow moving at the surface, slightly acidic, soft illumination, and temperature between 75 and 82 degrees F. I recommend a heavily planted aquarium with several floating species (I prefer Anubis which can be attached to rock or free floating). Feed the fry ground up flake foods (use a zip lock bag and twist it in your fingers until the flake is in a powder form). Once breeding is successful prepare for hundreds of babies.

you dont could purchase yet another tank in basic terms bypass to walmart or petsmart and purchase a gold fish bowl and she or he may be chuffed that way she would be able to consume and don't worry approximately gettin attacked! If a girl that wasn’t ripe, or waiting for spawning, might have entered a adult males tank, it’s conceivable that she might’ve been attacked, as non-ripe women persons are no longer tolerated in the region of the nest. via no longer fleeing, a girl shows her readiness to spawn. sure, some cases in case you're no longer careful whilst attempting too breed bettas, the male will attack the female and he can injure the female, the girls persons are a lot smaller than the adult males. A Male and a girl: in the wild, women persons sidestep adult males, different than for the duration of mating. whilst cohabiting in tanks, adult males might desire to kill women persons, and are in many cases saved aside till (a) they're juvenile siblings, (b) they're breeding, (c) there's a partition, or (d) the tank is sufficiently enormous for the female to flee attack. in many cases, in the previous breeding, breeders use this variety of field to permit lady demonstrate without risking harm via the male. 2 or extra women persons: Bettas are no longer education fish, yet in a large tank with many hiding areas, lady bettas can cohabit. whilst 2 women persons share a tank, one regularly bullies the different, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, 4 or extra women persons will set up a hierarchy permitting non violent co-life, nonetheless, women persons residing in community might desire to be monitored for aggressive women persons.

The female will play dead while the male has his way with her. Then he will attack and try to kill her after the eggs are released. Male betas are good fathers until the kids are born. Betas are loners as you've heard. Or they may attack each other right off the bat

The only reasonable thing to do right now is to separate them if u have them together, they will literally start fighting and eventually kill eachother if not one or the other. so u never keep 2 bettas together at once!

If you put them together than bad things will happen! A animal specialist told me that if you have two betta or more and put them together than bad things will happen! My point is betta fish have to have their own tank and can not share one with another betta or different fish!

they might fight, they might mate, or they might just tolerate each other. make sure the female is in first, and for best results, try several females - we'll say three - for every male. but obviously, you can have only one male.

it depends on how big the tank it is and wut the enviroment is like. if the tank is big in most cases the male will chase the females around then eventually stop but if their in a small tank the female will probably end uyp dying a horrible and painful getting its *** nipped of experience
