Visit www.salary.com to search job positions and their paying structure.

You have quite a bit of time to evaluate what you would like to be. Have you taken any apptitude testing? That might be able to help you assess your skills into a career that you would enjoy. The medical field is EXTREMELY hard and if you don't feel confident about it or feel you like it you shouldn't waste time you could be using more successfully in studying other career paths, etc.

Social work does sound like it would be a good role for helping others. The pay for social work as not as high as psychology. Don't be afraid to examine, research, and even job-shadow some of these positions to see if it is a fit for you. Speak with your counselors about what interests you they are there to help. I highly highly highly recommend continuing your education, in today's world you need to keep ahead!

GOING to high school soon? Don't stress too much over it then right now. It's great to be getting some ideas and thinking about who you are and who you want to be, but you still also have lots of time to decide.

When you get into college if you still aren't quite sure, then try to get into a school that has what you think you'd like to get into. You can probably just do some of your core classes the first year and wait to state a major until the following year. That way you may be able to have a better chance to check it out and talk to other students and teachers and compare your options more.

For the time being...let the various ideas just stew in the back of your mind for a while...then eventually ask yourself what you would regret not taking if you skipped it. That could help give you some ideas of where your heart is.

A 'psychologist' does NOT have an 'M.D.' and they can't 'give medications' at all ... but they can and do 'refer patients' to either a medical doctor or a psychiatrist (an MD who 'specializes in mental health disorders and who can 'prescribe medication'). amd frankly I think that being a 'psychologist' is just the job you 'want' ... but to be 'totally honest, I am a psychologist, and I really 'don't like' 99.99% of the 'social workers' who think that they know 'more' than a psychologist or psychological counselor ... but then I am a psychologist, and I was 'very good' at what I did for a living, and I haven't met a 'social worker' who could do the 'same thing' ... help people solve their problems quickly and well. And a 'psychologist' or 'psycholgogical counselor' can make 'juge amounts of money' or may work somewhere that doesn't pay much at all, but does 'help a lot of people who really need help' so that 'how much you make' is up to you.

Personally, I changed by major 3 times in college. I fell into my dream career by accident, so please try not to stress too much. Things work themselves out.
Psycologist don't prescribe medicine, only pyscharist do, so if you want to be a pyschologist, go for it.
I know a couple of social workers and they both have Masters in Pyschology and get pretty nice pay checks.
Maybe you should meet with your school guidance couselor to find out which field is for you and details about a specific job.
And while you should always take your parents advice into consideration, the decesion is ultimately up to you!
Good luck!

You can be what ever you want to be and do what ever you want to do. You aren't even in high school yet calm down and relax think about the future every so often not all the time and it will come to you but beware of altruistic goals the kinds of careers that espouse that type of thing will not provide you with a living wage.
