Israel has had Nuclear Weapons for decades, but we want to bomb Iran to the dark ages for wanting the same thing.

Why do we feel that we own the world and why are we surprised there are those out there that see and feel our hypocrisy.

OK.. Hypocrisy coming through loud and clear here... It's OK to DO IT (destroy nations and peoples) as long as you don't THREATEN it.... Right. I get it now.

Because the Decider thinks he has the God-given right to determine who can and who cannot have nuclear technology. In his twisted little mind he wants to ensure that only the "good guys" have nuclear capabilities. Excuse me, I meant nucular.

There is nothing hypocritical about openly hating people that openly hate you. When I think of my friends, they don't include people that say they hate me in public. The countries we want disarmed have long histories of hostility towards the US. The US has meddled in their politics, been at cold war with them, and complained about their seeking or posessing WMDs. Why? Because, if there someone publicly saying they hate you, do you want them to have a gun or no gun?

Japan has as much reason to hate the US as North Korea, but at a critical point, they decided that, as a country, they would rather learn from the US, copy, and do things even better. Does Japan hate the US? I don't see it. I also don't see the US bitterly complaining about the possibility of Japan having a nuclear weapon.

India and Pakistan? Which one says they hate the US more? Hint: it's west of the other one. So that one is in the west, but we don't like them because, even at their "friendliest" they are rather cool in comparison to their neighbor.

Russia: The US didn't really want Russia to have nuclear weapons up until now - assuming that is even true. Apparently you missed the whole Cold War business. But things could change. Russia could decide it hates the US again. You'll never guess where the US position on disarmament will be then... Ok, maybe you can.

That all said, I can understand why someone would want a nuclear weapon. It's like peer pressure to smoke or do illegal drugs: "Everybody is doing it!" Ok, whatever. The point is, Iran wants to have a gun and say it hates the US at the same time (just like it has hated the US since probably before my parents were born).

Israel uses them as a defense mechanism, just like the US. Iran, or it's "wonderful" leader has stated that he wants Israel "wiped off the map. By that, and pursuing nukes, he wants his "dream" to come true. So there is a difference and there is nothing hypocritical about it.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has openly called for Israel to be wiped off the map.

Ahmadinejad addressed students at a conference

"The establishment of the Zionist regime was a move by the world oppressor against the Islamic world," the president told a conference in Tehran on Wednesday, entitled The World without Zionism.

"The skirmishes in the occupied land are part of a war of destiny. The outcome of hundreds of years of war will be defined in Palestinian land," he said.

"As the Imam said, Israel must be wiped off the map," said Ahmadinejad, referring to Iran's revolutionary leader Ayat Allah Khomeini.

Don't be such a ninny. If Iran could handle being a grown up, they could build their frickin' weapons. But they have STATED their INTENT to BOMB THE BEEGEEZUS out of their neighbors. Hence, THEY CAN NOT BE TRUSTED with nuclear weapons. When have you last seen or heard of Isreal threatening to blow anyone off the map? Maybe if you had teenagers, you would understand the situation better. Some can be trusted to be responsible. Some can't.

The West is the only bastion of true freedom in our world. If you are a Westerner, be glad you don't live under the oppressive thumb of an Islamofacist regime. The mere fact that you have the ability to ask these dissenting questions, is proof positive the we (the West) embody the ideals necessary to responsibly own and maintain such nuclear arsenals.

You sound a bit naive. Perhaps you could use an analogy to help explain:

"The police have guns, isn't it hypocritical of them to demand that the criminals disarm?"

First of all, most people in the West are regretful of nukes ever being introduced into this world. Second, The major powers excluding China and France, have been in an agreement to reduce the nukes in hopes that one day there will be minimal numbers of nukes. It is naive to think we can get rid of them all. The West doesn't want Iran to have nukes, because the nut jobs in Iran have outright said that they want to bring about WW3 so that the 12th Imam will come. Only an idiot would want to let Iran to have nukes at this point. The world doesn't need a rogue nation wanting to start WW3, developing nukes. What part of this don't you understand. Iran's govt. wants to basically bring the end of the world as we know it. It is apparent by your comments that you think it is okay to be a terrorist and murder children on school buses. So, I will just consider you to be in support of terrorists and thus, the enemy of the world and my friends that are in Iraq and Afganistan fighting terrorists. You are a coward and by proxy a murdering terrorist.

Israel has nukes because the creation of the state of Israel, the Arabs want to drive the Jews to the sea. There is no sincerity of the Arabs to have peace with Israel.

This is Israel last resort in self defense.

Israel never threatened to use them against other countries.

The US has never said it wants to bomb Iran back to the dark ages, so what country are you refering to when you say "we".

ADDED: so if no one acts upon a realistic threat are they supposed to wait until after the mushroom clouds clear and then call for a UN resolution? Why wouldn't you act on a threat and nuetralize it before it became a problem? If Europe had enforced the treaty of Versailles Hilter would never have been in a position to start WW2. We have seen the first hand results of not taking threats by a sovereign nation seriously.

No we don't want to bomb them, how moronic! Israel has the boom but is that a reason to let a country that has vowed to destroy Israel have it. Aren't you asking for trouble there? As far as I am concerned, we don't have to be the World policeman, we can withdraw everywhere, and last man standing we'll do business with, and when I saw withdraw I mean everythiing, foreign aide, military, everything!

I'm not a fan of Israel having nukes.. but when was that last time Israel called for genocide like Iran does?

What is hypocritical about it? If Israel lays down arms, Israel will cease to exist.

If Iran lays down arms, there will be peace.

The only hypocrisy is coming from people who refuse to call Ahmadinejad the terrorist that he is.
