okay if im around 30 weeks pregnant (31 this week supposedly according to the doctor but i think they are off by 2-3 weeks by my conception date, so 32-33 weeks) anyway if i am having pelvic pains, they are only bad when i am getting up from laying down, turning over (while laying) or move one of my legs up a lot higher than the other, but could this mean the baby might be born premature, if that is the baby getting in position. could she/he be in postion and i might go into labor sooner than 40 weeks?? please no stupid answers, im just curious because i saw another question that made me wonder.

In pregnancy the hormone relaxin is released to soften the joints in preparation for the birth of your baby. The pains you feel are VERY common and VERY normal in pregnancy- especially at 30+ weeks.

Although it appears to be a firmly fixed circle of bone, the pelvis is actually four separate bones jointed together - the sacrum and coccyx at the back and at the sides the two hip bones which curve around to meet at the front. These are joined at the front by the symphysis pubis.

It is normal for there to be a gap of 4-5mm between the two pubic points at the symphysis pubis joint and during any pregnancy this widens by another 2-3mm. If this gap widens more than this pain may occur.

The job of the symphysis pubis joint is to hold the pelvis steady when we're using our legs, and if the ligaments have softened or stretched too much it won't work properly and strain is put on the other pelvic joints, causing pain.

Just try to move as slow as you can! I know it's sooo painful-- i'm now 40 weeks and each week the pain gets worse as the ligaments loosen more and my growing baby is only adding more pressure- especially since she has dropped!

It depends on what type of pelvic pain you are having, is it the actual bones and muscles that are hurting, like they are being moved the wrong way or sore from the position you where in. If this is what you are experiencing it has nothing to due with labor or the baby moving down. Now if you are experiencing a feeling of pressure, like there is weight on your vaginal area then it could have something to due with the baby, and that means you should call your doctor and let them know and probably go in for an office visit.

Second if you had an ultrasound it would put you where you are and not off by two or more weeks, a week maybe, but not two. So the doctor is probably right about your due date.

I don't think it is a sign of premature labor, but then you can never tell when labor will start, not you or your doctor.

I will tell you as an example, I started feeling a extreme amount of pressure at 33 weeks and still do most days, I am now almost 38 weeks and still pregnant, I was dilated to one at 33 weeks, still no baby. Having symptoms of labor does not always guarantee labor.

It could just be ovulation pain since you just stopped taking BC. But it may be an ovarian cyst. which could also explain why the pain is isolated to one side. cysts can be a side effect of contraceptives. Yet, if it is hurting that means that it is agitated for some reason. It could also be an egtopic pregnancy also. If the pain does not go away in the next couple of days, or continues to get more intense, I would definately go see a doctor. Another possibility is a kidney stone moving down your tract, I had this problem after my first child bc I craved so much milk during pregnancy that calcium deposits built up. You need to ask a doctor.

I went through quite a bit of pelvic pain at about 28 weeks and only made it to 35 weeks. But i do not think the two were related. The pelvic pain was attributed to the moving of organs and the stress on my lower organs. The muscles got stressed to the point that they would stay tensed the almost 24 hours a day. Causing any movements to pain me.

Have you started sleeping or sitting on your side with a piollow between your legs. I know that this relieves the pressure quite a bit and can let your muscles relax.

omg i have the same problem. Like if i am sitting on the floor and try to get up my pelvic area hurts so much.. also from moving side to side in bed and getting up from bed... my doc said to sleep with a pillow.. that it is just your muscles tensing up from the weight of your belly and baby. I am 27 weeks pregnant and have had this since my last child.. but it went away after he was born and came back when i got pregnant again. I had to do exercises because they said my pelvic bone never went back into place after the baby was born and that I would have this pain probably every pregnancy. I'm pretty sure your baby isn't going to be born premature.. especially if it is the same pain i'm going through.

I think I answered your other question too. But if you saw it, I said with my 3rd baby I felt what you describeda few weeks before Ihad him. I did have him at 34 weeks. I told the doctor about it and then my water leaked for a week or so and I got steroid shots to develop the babies lungs. This was about 4 days before he was born. He was a very healthy baby and weighed 5 lbs and 2 oz and went home with me 2 days later. No problems. Just voice your concerns to your doctor and if you have gut feelings that you may go into labor early then make sure they do something about it. I bugged the doctor and went back several times because of those hip pains, etc.. Im glad I did.

well the same thing happened to me when I was pregnant and I didn't deliver before 40 weeks and what was told to me is that my baby was sitting on my pelvic and putting alot of pressure there.

it is not the baby getting in position it is your pelvis separating preparing itself for birth. no it does not mean you will have the baby early. some women start having those pains in their fourth month and go to full term. i have those same pains (which sucks) and have for 2 months now. consider it a blessing your body will be prepared for when the baby does get into position.

Probably just your ligaments stretching. That happened to me a lot with this pregnancy (36 1/2 weeks), but not at all with my daughter (6 years old). If you're worried, call your OB-GYN. Remember, there are no stupid questions when it comes to your and your baby's health.
