Ive watched my cat give birth and she was in quite a bit of pain. She was howling and when the kitten began to come out, she freaked out and was spinning in circles. I know it was hurting her. The next few that she had werent as bad, but the first one that came out was.

Simply stated, no. Originally child birth was not painful but when Adam and Eve sinned that was one of the consequences of their sin (along with being cast out of the garden of eden). Animals have not sinned, nor are capable of sin, so its not as painful for them.

I think it can be. I helped our goat give birth when I was a child - she was only young herself, and she had triplets. She was frightened - she cried a lot - and she acted like it hurt a lot. But then as soon as the three were out (my dad had to pull one out, it was stuck) she was fine, and got busy licking them and making them stand up.

I think so but they do not react to it in the same way as humans.

I think so, but they seem to handle it better then us, probably because they dont have hubbys, nurses and doctor all around them so they dont have anybody to complain to/ They just get on with it!

As a general rule, no. They kinda just grunt a couple times, then they're done. They also aren't as self-aware as we are, though. The Bible says it's because of Eve's original sin. :)
