Yes, you can. What matters is how you write about those bands/movies (even people) because you could affect a person's impression on that thing. But you're free to include real things. It happens all the time.. whether in music, movies, cartoons and novels.

I don't see why not. If you plan on posting or publishing or somethiong just state " I do not own *Name of band or movie here*" It'd be like a fanfic. People use ral songs and movies all the time when they're writing a fanfic. about a cartoon or something else fiction.

Yes you can -- on both counts. But if you quote lines, lyrics or (in the case of literature) passages you have to attribute that work to the sources and the creators. This is usually done in the afterwards or the books footnotes.

A great resource for ways to do that is "The Writers' Market". I think in the early sections of that book they have tips and suggestions on the best way to go about doing that.

It is allowed. Just to be safe, have a little thing at the end of the book that says who's movie it is and if it's a real thing or not.

Make sure you put quotation marks around the film title. & in mentioning real recording artists, make sure to spell the name correctly. & if u must get specific, correctly identify band or group members & songs & albums. I think if u also get your book published, u gotta show a note saying that any references 2 actual persons, living or dead, are coincidental.

Poppy Z. Brite did. I'm not sure how that works but if you plan on publishing it, you might want to check with the bands before you use their names.

YES.

Italicize them and keep a list, so that if you are published, you can tell your editor the band names and movies that you've used and then they can make the judgement.
