I was just wondering if anyone else experienced vertigo (extreme dizzyness) during their last trimester. Im almost 38 weeks pregnant and I get so dizzy when I'm laying down. Whenever I move my head I feel like I have a hangover except 10 times as bad. It only lasts like 40 seconds but I have to grab on to the bed it gets so bad. I feel a little dizzy when I walk around, but it is deffinatly worse when I am laying down. My OBGYN said it isn't related to pregnancy and my doctor says that he doesn't know why it's happening and just gives me motion sickness pills. But they really dont help. I was just curious if anyone else has ever felt that, and if you did what did you do to deal with it? I just dont want this to go on when I go into labor. Any advice would be great! Thanks!

I did have my blood pressure checked sitting and laying down. They said I was good to go. They also checked my ears and said it didnt look like there was anything wrong at all. It's really bizzare.

I don't think that sounds like a pregnancy sypmtom. I had vertigo before and it is horrible. It has to do with an inner ear problem. So I would say its not because of your pregnancy. Ofcourse your doctor can't give you anything for it b/c you are pregnant besides the motion sickness pills. I had to take valium and a couple other meds to keep me balanced when I had it. Are you short? b/c i have noticed in my family that all the women that are shorter than 5'5 has it... just checking.. but be very careful when you walk and getting out of bed... b/c you don't want to fall.. goodluck and I would get that checked out after the pregnancy. I was being seen by a neurologist for my condition and still am. goodluck

You could have a bout of Labyrinthitis. Have you had any viruses lately? Sometimes after a cold or an upper respiratory virus, the virus can attack the inner ear causing vertigo, nausea, the sea-sickness feeling. I had Labyrinthitis when I was 8 weeks post-partum, and let me tell you it was miserable! I could hardly even carry my newborn son around i was SO SO SO dizzy! I felt like I was always falling to the left. I was diagnosed with Labyrinthitis and was told it can last 4 weeks to a year. It's about a year later and I still occasionally get vertigo, but not as severe. Go see an ENT. (ear nose throat doctor)...hope you feel better soon!

Eliminate Vertigo and Dizziness

A baby can die at any point in the pregnancy. I think it would have to be an outrageous hard kick in order to kill the baby. And a lot of times when you go through trauma your body starts going into labor naturally to get the child out (not all the time but I've heard of this happening). When I was a little kid I got mad at my mom and kicked her in her stomach a few times while she was pregnant with my little brother. She had a big tummy so I am pretty sure she was in her 3rd trimester. Nothing bad happened and both her and my brother are fine. Like I said I don't think a kick would cause the baby to die but you never know. (I saw on TLC some crazy stories about crazy things happening to women when they were pregnant. One girl got hit by a car, shot in the stomach, etc. and they had their babies and they both survived)

Your dizzyness and vertigo may be caused by high blood pressure. Have them check it when you are lying down.

Did your OB/GYN actually check you out fully, dizziness during pregnancy is not a good thing, it is connected to many pregnancy illness. A friend of mine experienced that and the OB had bloodwork and an ultrasound done, and put her on weekly visits (her's was at 24 weeks or so).
