Weaknesses:

Higher price bracket - perceived as 'luxury outlet'.
Limited stock due to own brand policy
Geographic issues - for instance parking in town centres

I love M & S food! Often however, I go back to get what I had before and it's not there for a while. Maybe they're just trying to vary their stock, but I wish I could always rely on getting what I want.

It is pricey BUT at least I just get meals there...Tescos etc. have too many other things and I get side tracked then when I get home I realise there's not much food!

Weaknesses in a food business come from internal and external sources.

External sources could be contamination via natural agents (such as E. coli) or extortion (someone putting razor blades in apples - for example) which in turn erodes brand image.

Other external sources could be drought, lack of skilled workers, union problems, or a breakdown in their supply-chain management.

Internal sources could be lack of employee training in food handling procedures, lack of moral amount employees etc etc

yeah not competitive on price. Also no added value - other food retailers have loyalty bonuses and good causes like collecting vouchers for school books/equipment or recycling incentives

plus you cant order groceries online with home delivery - only big party orders for collection in a store

its overpriced and just the same as any other supermarket ,i'd go so far as to say middle of the road, better than Co-op and Morrissons but no match for Tesco's (best price) or Waitrose(best quality), however, people are suckers for showing off and if you buy your sandwiches at marks and sparks, you've got money to burn.
