I think it depends on the person. I am 38 weeks and I have had braxton hicks, or fake contractions, for a few weeks now. I've also had a lot of pressure on my cervix. I got excited thinking that I was gonna go a little early, but he's still holding out in there. I also started dropping about a week or so ago and everyone at work was like, I would be shocked if you come back in on Monday, your not gonna make it through the weekend! But I was at work today. lol. So I don't think there is really a set time, that would be "normal". Everyone is different. Good luck sweetie, best wishes.

I have 9 days to go before the c-section with my last baby (yeah Valentine's baby), and I have had lots of pain in my lower back and in my hips and pelvic bones. They all started about a month ago, but I think most women are different some feel more pain than others and can handle it different. I do know that I can't wait for the baby to come out too!!! Good luck!!!!

On my due date I had an appt. I was previously 2 cm dialated. I had no symptoms. During the appt my doc "stretched" my membranes since I told him how I wanted to have the baby on time. I left the office with light cramping.

I went home and cleaned from top to bottom. I didnt eat anything and I gave my husband a stiff drink and told him that he was not going to work the next day because I was going into labor. He went to bed and I stayed up all night cleaning and laboring. The contractions were mild at first and just uncomfortable. I couldnt lay down anymore so I went to the livingroom and watched Nick at Nite. When the contractions got worse I made a hot bath, lit some candles and put on my fav jazz CD. I sat there for hours laboring. The pain was getting intense and I counted the min between. Finally when they were 2 min apart for an hour and a half I woke my husband and told him to get ready to go.

When I got to the doc I was 5 cm dialated and ready for my pain medication. I really needed it at that point.

The pelvic pressure is common and for me it felt like stronger menstral cramps. Right before I had to push it felt like I was going to have a bowel movement.

I hope my experience helps you. Go get the book what to expect when your expecting and what to expect the first year. Parenting and Parents magazine helped me a lot.

Its all different. With my first I didnt feel anything before. With my 2nd I got nauseated before, and with my 3rd I got the kind of symptoms you are talking about. I had those kind of symptoms about 2 weeks before I went into labor. I knew I would go into labor soon, becasue there was no way I was going to be able to tolerate the pain I had just walking around and doing all the normal things I did everyday. It got pretty bad though. I told my husband, It wont be much longer because I can hardley take how Im feeling.

I had some small Braxton Hicks pains, they are like practice labour pains, at around 8 months but other than that I felt fine, I had to be induced because I was 2 weeks overdue. But I just had major back aches(my daughter ended up weighing almost 12 pounds) and felt tired. Good Luck!!

I had serious pelvic pressure starting my 7th month! I thought I was going to have the baby then need hip replacements. Let your doctor know what you felt and ask if you should come in. Only they know for sure.

There's this support thing you can wear up under your belly that goes around your hips, it holds everything in place nice and snug. It's made by Medela and they sell it at babies r us. I'm telling you, it's as essential as a crib, girl.

Here's what it looks like:

Best of luck to you. Take care.

I had no clue I was about to go into labor with my first. My husband and I started to fool around and I had been feeling fine and then I started having what felt like menstrual cramps and I was in labor 10 days early.
Good Luck!

It varies. I had no symptoms at all, no contractions, nothing. Then my water broke and my daughter was out 2 hours later. I was shocked.
