Here is an excellent site .... It has tons of project ideas and helps the student pick which ones would be of most interest to them... It shows methods... and give all sorts of ideas.. My 7th grader did her project on DNA extraction of an onion... good luck .....Ps... I just finished my BS in biology with a chem. minor...

some are: What brand of nail polish last longer than (brand of nail polish, like Revlon.)? What color nail polish dries faster/slower than (a color, like red. this one i did)? What brand of battery lasts the most? What brand of paper towel absorbs the most water? Does blindfolding a person affect their guesses on taste(for this one, you can sample out 3 different kool-aid flavor//or juicy juice)? What type of surface does a skateboard go the fastest//slowest on(if your sister is into skateboarding)?

this might not be a sophisticated idea but take an old swimming noodle and round it into a shuttle shape. sand it and paint it then u got a shuttle.

do an experiment on making rock candy. You can find how online then when your done u can eat it.yummy!
